Radiesse® for Wrinkles
Radiesse® is a unique dermal filler used by California Skin Institute to treat smile lines and nasolabial folds by utilizing a two-pronged approach. The filler creates immediate improvement by boosting volume under the skin and then helps your skin in the long term by stimulating collagen production in the treatment area. Further, Radiesse® can provide improvements that are long-lasting (over a year in some cases).1
What is Radiesse®?
Radiesse® is a gel-like dermal filler that is injected into the tissues beneath wrinkles in order to add volume in trouble areas. This filler uses a chemical called Calcium Hydroxylapatite to stimulate collagen production in the skin.
How Radiesse® Works
There are many causes of wrinkles and facial lines. Environmental factors, such as toxins and free radicals, wear down the skin over time and cause it to become dull. Further, the body slows its production of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid; deteriorating the skin’s natural support structures.
At California Skin Institute, our providers can use Radiesse® to rebuild the collagen beneath the skin in order to make it thicker and more elastic.
The secret of this filler are the calcium-based microspheres which act as a scaffold under the skin to provide lift. But unlike Juvederm® XC and Perlane®, which rely heavily on the effects of moisture-loving hyaluronic acid to create volume, Radiesse® focuses on rebuilding the collagen networks.
Thus, Radiesse® filler adds immediate volume to support the skin, and provides collagen stimulation to improve the skin’s appearance in the long term.
What Radiesse® Volumizing Filler Treats
Radiesse® injections mainly work by restoring lost tissue volume under the skin and stimulating collagen production. This improves skin resiliency and elasticity. At California Skin Institute, we use Radiesse® to correct the following facial areas:
- Nasolabial folds
- Marionette lines
- Wrinkles around the mouth that create the appearance of a frown
- Early symptoms of Jowls
- Chin wrinkles
With decades of collective procedure experience, California Skin Institute providers are able to achieve meaningful outcomes with Radiesse® filler after just one treatment. Further, our providers can develop an ongoing treatment plan that maintains outcomes in the long term and reduces the number of necessary touch-up treatments.
How Long Does Radiesse Last?
Improvements from this filler are clinically proven to last a year or more in many patients.1 This is achieved through the stimulation of natural collagen production in your body, which tightens skin for longer-term improvements.
What to Expect During Radiesse Treatment
When you meet with one of our doctors, she or he will carefully discuss the details of Radiesse® treatment with you, and will answer any specific questions you may have.
Radiesse® filler treatments are a quick procedure at California Skin Institute, where one of our experts will perform the treatment in-office, with minimal discomfort.
Further, this filler is FDA-approved to mix with lidocaine, a local anesthetic – which is good news for patients who dislike needles and pain (yes, our doctors know how much patients don’t like pain, and we’ve worked hard to minimize discomfort in our procedures).
Treatments are usually completed in about 30 minutes, and because our patients typically experience little to no downtime, it’s likely you’ll be free to return to your regular daily routine right afterward.
Because the improvements are immediate, you can leave the office looking more youthful and refreshed.
Does Radiesse® Hurt?
With careful use of local anesthetics, California Skin Institute doctors are able to perform this procedure quickly and virtually painlessly.
