Dr. Stefan Lowenstein is a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon specializing in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. He was born in San Francisco and grew up in Marin County. Dr. Lowenstein earned his undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences from the University of California at Santa Barbara. After discovering his passion for medicine, he went on to complete both his medical degree and residency training in dermatology at the University of California at San Francisco.

Dr. Lowenstein’s scholarly work includes the diagnosis and management of rare and difficult to treat skin cancers. He has a particular clinical interest in surgical and cosmetic dermatology, and has received a world-class education in complex medical dermatology during his residency training.

When he isn’t working as a dermatologist, Dr. Lowenstein enjoys snowboarding at Lake Tahoe and surfing at Ocean Beach in San Francisco.

As a life-long Californian, Dr. Lowenstein is honored to be able to work as a dermatologist in the San Francisco Bay Area – the community where he was born and raised.
