Allen Miraflor, MD, MS, FCAP

Dr. Miraflor was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA and pursued an undergraduate degree at Johns Hopkins University in Public Health and a minor in Spanish for the Professions. He graduated with honors with an honors thesis in Environmental Health Studies under the direction of Dr. Thaddeus Graczyk. He received his Doctor of Medicine from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA. He has a Master of Science degree in Pharmacology from the same institution where his area of interest was Endocrine Pharmacology and phytoestrogens with a contribution to the Journal of Endocrinology.

Dr. Miraflor completed his Anatomic and Clinical Pathology residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. Subsequent to his tenure at Dartmouth, he pursued a Dermatopathology fellowship in the combined Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center/Weill Cornell – New York Presbyterian program in Manhattan, New York.

Dr Miraflor has presented at conferences nationwide and published in a variety of scientific journals covering topics in infectious Dermatopathology, Molecular Pathology, Informatics/Artificial Intelligence, Oncologic Dermatopathology and Lymphoid Proliferations. He has been mentored by many of the pioneers of Dermatopathology including Drs. Cynthia Magro, Klaus Busam, and Martin Mihm. He also has worked with Dr. Philip Leboit in San Francisco on one of his published works. Dr Miraflor is a Six Sigma Yellow Belt professional who is always eager to work on projects to improve laboratory quality for the patient. He also has served as a Delegate in the College of American Pathologists. Dr. Miraflor joins us after approximately 5 years in a high volume private practice setting with experience as Medical Director. He is thrilled to come back full circle in practicing in his home state of California.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Miraflor enjoys traveling the world, and is an avid aviation enthusiast, looking to achieve his pilot’s license in the near future. He collects antique Ormolu French mantle clocks dating back from before the French Revolution. He also enjoys volleyball and running, is a history buff and collects rare and exotic plants from all over the world.
