Maria Cristina Isales, MD

Maria Cristina Isales, MD is a board-certified dermatopathologist. She grew up in Augusta, Georgia, and graduated with her B.A. from Yale University. Following her undergraduate degree, she earned a Master of Public Health from the University of Georgia, and a Doctorate of Medicine from the Medical College of Georgia. After medical school, Dr. Isales completed a residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, where she researched the genomics of Spitzoid neoplasms, melanocytomas, and acral melanoma. Following residency, she completed a two-year fellowship in Dermatopathology at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Isales’ interests in dermatopathology include molecular diagnostic techniques for melanocytic lesions, inflammatory dermatoses, and connective tissue diseases.

Dr. Isales has been widely published in prominent peer-reviewed journals, including Journal of the American Academy of DermatologyAmerican Journal of Surgical PathologyJournal of Investigative Dermatology, and Journal of Cutaneous Pathology. She has also presented at the American Society of Dermatopathology and the International Society of Dermatopathology meetings. Dr. Isales brings her passion and dedication to rendering skin biopsy interpretations in the context of clinical dermatology.
