Susana Ortiz, MD
Dr. Susana Ortiz-Urda pursued a medical degree and doctorate at the University of Vienna in Austria. She then completed a residency in dermatology and a postdoctoral fellowship in epithelial biology at Stanford University, followed by a fellowship in dermatology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Dr. Ortiz-Urda has published numerous papers in high impact journals such as Science, Nature Medicine among others.
At UCSF, she is the Director of the Melanoma Center and leads a laboratory studying early melanoma progression, molecular therapeutics and identifying molecular mechanisms of drug resistance. Dr. Ortiz-Urda supports California Skin Institute in the prevention and treatment of early and advanced skin cancer.
