California Skin Institute – Medical Dermatologist in Santa Rosa and Castro Valley

Erik Cabral, MD is fellowship trained in Mohs micrographic and reconstructive surgery as well as dermatologic oncology. His training was in addition to board certification in dermatology at Stanford. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and an Associate Member of the American College of Mohs Surgery. Additionally, he has over 40 scientific presentations, publications, and book chapters on reconstructive surgery, skin cancer, and cosmetic dermatology.

Dr. Cabral grew up in San Jose and received his Bachelor’s in Human Biology with Honors Thesis from Stanford University. He was fortunate to study abroad at Brasenose College, Oxford University and Universidad Autonoma del Estado de Mexico in Cuernavaca and is fluent in Spanish.

After college, he completed 3 years of graduate training at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases in Bethesda, Maryland, then returned to Stanford to complete his medical degree with an emphasis in melanoma and dermatopathology research. His transitional internship was at Valley Medical Center, a Stanford affiliated county hospital. Subsequently, he completed a residency in dermatology at Stanford and then pursued a Mohs micrographic surgery, dermatologic oncology, and cosmetics fellowship with Dr. Richard G. Bennett at UCLA with an emphasis on reconstructive surgery.

Dr. Cabral enjoys practicing in the Bay Area and has spent the past two years caring for patients in Sonoma and Marin counties. He is a fan of running, snowboarding, golf and wine.
